We wish to advise you that the Board of CIPQ has resolved to increase the weekly benefit to members who are on claim, from $830,00 per week to $1,000.00 per week. This means the capping of 85% of pre disability income up to a maximum $1,000.00 per week will apply to claims post 1 January 2009.
Additionally, the Board has approved an annual CPI increase operative 1 January each year for contributions. This decision is necessary to cover the increase in insurance premium costs.
The increase has enabled the Fund to increase the weekly benefit to members who are on claim, from $830.00 per week to $1,000.00 per week. This means the capping of 85% of pre disability income up to a maximum $1,000.00 per week will apply to claims post 1 January 2009.
This increase brings the weekly benefit into line with industry movements over recent years and maintains our competitive advantage against similar funds.
CIPQ continues to provide the best Income Protection for Building Workers and White Collar employees in Queensland. This is only the second increase in the contribution rate since the scheme was introduced in March 2001 and still represents exceptional value. The Fund has paid out $19,800,000.00 in the seven years CIPQ has operated. This has enabled workers and their families to stay afloat under difficult circumstances. Sickness and accidents can afflict anybody at anytime and CIPQ provides an important level of support when people most need it.
