About CIPQ :
Introduction
|
| |
Construction Income Protection Queensland - CIPQ commenced on 1st March 2001 to provide income protection and portability of sick leave benefits for workers in the building and construction industry.
CIPQ was developed in 1999 as part of the settlement of the enterprise bargaining negotiations between the building unions and the Queensland Master Builders Association on behalf of a number of builders.
The Fund has the support of the building unions and the builder's party to its development. The benefits payable by the Fund will provide building workers an income whilst off work due to long-term illness or injury for up to 104 weeks. It will also allow workers to utilise untaken sick leave that previously was forfeited when the employee left employment.
The Board of CIPQ is made up of an equal number of directors representing both the relevant unions and the participating employers.
Another feature of CIPQ is that the benefit is available to labour-only subcontractors as well as employees. This recognises the role the labour-only workers play in the commercial sector of the industry.
Management, professional and administrative workers are also entitled to the benefits of the Fund. Employers should direct any questions about CIPQ to the Fund's administrator.
Participating employers will be advised of any alterations made to the Fund. If you require further information please contact Superpartners, the Fund's staff or Windsor Management Insurance Brokers if you require specific advice.
